New Dealer: Wildwood Dollhouses

It has been many years since April and Ron Gill of Wildwood Dollhouses have visited our show. We are happy they will be dealers here in 2014. They have been doing miniatures for 35 years and do one of a kind structures, which can be found in many museums and private collections.

Three Ravens is a shop for witches with windows and doors of real leaded glass. There is a cave for making potions, and they are sold upstairs. Most of the bones are real bones.

The exterior of the Craftsman Kitchen is oak and the interior is cherry.

Wildwood Dollhouses can be reached at wwdhms@aol.com

New Dealer: Jennifer Whittlesey

Here is Jennifer Whittlesey’s introduction to our show. We welcome her.

“I began my artistic career as an embroiderer in the late 70's while homesteading in Prince Edward Island,Canada(our smallest province). Over a number of years my work became increasingly tiny and more intricate, so when I joyfully discovered Houseworks building supplies for sale in a hobby shop in the mid 80's, it was a natural transition for me to explore the possibilities of dollhouse miniatures, which I had loved as a child. Since then I have studied woodworking, moved to Vancouver and graduated from art school where I majored in painting and sculpture. I started my first business -Butterfly&Blue - last spring and am excited to see where this new venture will take me.”

Exhibits

Connie Sauve, an IGMA Fellow and our show Exhibit Chairman, usually brings several exhibits of her own to the show. This one, made in 1991, “Daddy’s Little Workshop”, really caught our eye. Connie’s father, a carpenter, and she built her own dollhouse in 1986 together. This carpentry shop still reminds him of the fun times they had when she was young. The rocking horse is by Karen Lowe, and the tools are by Sir Thomas Thumb. Click on pictures to enlarge them.

Nell Corkin, 2014 Academy Instructor

Nell Corkin, IGMA Fellow, has sent us pictures of what she will be teaching at our 2014 Good Sam Academy of Miniatures. This adorable cottage in 1:144 scale would be perfect as a stand alone piece or as a dollhouse in your 1:12 scale dollhouse. The battens (vertical strips of wood) shown on the front of the cottage will not be used at the Academy, but otherwise this is what her students will take home.

Look for Nell’s bio on her web site, http://www.nellcorkin.com to learn of her background, including working with such as Steven Spielberg. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Dealer Debbie Heard, D. Sierck Ltd: Collectibles, Accessories, Estate Sales

Debbie Heard sells as D. Sierck Ltd and offers a wonderful array of miniatures from private collections and estate sales. These are exceptional items from talented artists of the past as well as the present. “I started making miniatures at the age of 10, my mother, Lola Renner (from Lola Originals), started the business. At age 18, I got my own sellers permit and continued making foods with my mom from then on. Twelve years ago I purchased a very large estate from the son of a good friend that had passed. I really enjoyed selling the collection, and loved the buyer’s reaction to seeing so many wonderful items from the past that were no longer available on the market. I selectively purchase estates from people that have quality, unique offerings. Thus the next generation can enjoy them as much as their last owners treasured them.”

Debbie has been a dealer at our show in her own name since the early 1990's. Debbie's email is fjdebbie@aol.com Writing by Carolynn Walden.
