This week's blog focuses on a group of extraordinarily talented and diverse artisans who will be at our fall show.

An IGMA Fellow in metalworking, Alan Hamer works in iron, brass and copper. He makes 1:12 scale fireplace tools, gates, children's toys, wagons, pedal cars, wind drags, ironing boards, chairs, and more. At the Show - Ceramics

IGMA Artisan Craig Roberts, The Hairy Potter, works in a vast variety of themes, styles, sizes, and clay types. A master potter, he incorporates sculpting, decorating, and other media such as silver, gold or glass into his clayworks. He also makes miniature rustic furniture. Since 1992, IGMA Artisan Thomas S. Lee and his wife Linda have attended many of the Good Sam Shows. Selling as Lee's Microcosm, he handcrafts working toys, fabulous nutcrackers, and some furniture pieces in 1:12 scale. Look for Tom's new working toys and inspired nutcrackers at this year's show. At the Show - Exhibits

Displayed at the 2009 Good Sam Show, this week's exhibits focus on the fine art of turnings in miniature. Cynthia Howe of  Santa Maria, CA and Moonyeen Moller of Foster City, CA finished their shops in distinctively different ways. The finely crafted turnings seen here delight the senses with their artistic creativity and unique designs. All of the forms work in harmony, yet stand distinctively in their own space. Cynthia Howe built her "One Good Turn" gallery in the tradition of charming California coastal shops and galleries. She incorporated a whimsical wallpaper border that runs around the top of the room. While of similar design, Moonyeen Moller's gallery "The Turning Point" is very upscale and sophisticated. She finished it with white walls and dark formal fixtures. Moonyeen then incorporated strong dramatic lighting to show off her collection of turnings.

At the Show - Doll artist from Spain

This week's blog introduces four dealers who will be at the Good Sam Show in October. Two are fine miniature artists from Spain. Another makes delightful animals and more. The last dealer creates an eye-catching line of miniature kits.

Maria Jose Santos of Spain has been making figures for 15 years. Doing business as Carabosse Dolls, she creates distinctive 1:12 scale porcelain period dolls and ballerinas from her own sculptures.
