At the Show - Ethnic and Nature Arts

Bill and Joan Beiriger of XYZZX Creations have been attending Good Sam as dealers for over fifteen years. They carry a variety of 1:12 scale ethnic and nature arts in miniature. http://www.xyzzx.com

Bill both makes and carries a nice selection of miniature African, Oceana (Pacific Islands), Northwest, Southwest and Egyptian decorative art. He also has some Mexican wood carvings and pottery as well as seashell art and mineral art objects.

At the Show - Exhibits

From the 2007 Good Sam Show, this week's creative exhibit reflects a passion for decorative tribal and kilim rugs. The weavings are exquisite with many diverse color concepts and designs. A special touch is the tribal rug being woven on the loom.

Shellie Kazan, Shellie's Miniature Mania, San Carlos, CA has attended Good Sam the past six years. Her shop inventory includes just about anything you might need to complete a dollhouse or room box in various budget ranges. Bluette Meloney has been making out of the ordinary and diverse vignettes for more than 17 years. In years past, her work could be found on Shellie Kazan's table. This year, Bluette will have her own table. Her designs incorporate realistic faux finishes and trompe-l'oeil effects. She also hand-paints furniture and other accessories. Susan Harmon Hatler of Heirlooms by Susan creates accessories and kits from the 1700s to the 1930s. Her favorite period is the 18th century. Her work incorporates antique and vintage treasures--laces, ribbons and trim, fabrics, rhinestones, findings, old papers, and other unique "bits and bobs." At the Show - Exhibits

This week's exhibit from the 2009 Good Sam Show is the Seed and Feed Shed by Sharon Reeve, San Mateo, CA. Inspired by a 1994 Kim Jacobs calendar illustration, Sharon fondly remember time spent in her mother's Victory Garden in WW II. This vignette holds special memories for Sharon of simple pleasures from a simpler time.

Estate Sale - Pat Carter's Miniatures

In a post on January 7, 2012, we announced that Pat Carter, Good Sam Show Committee, died on January 5, 2012. She had been in charge of the highly successful White Elephant Sale for many years.

The family has made the decision to part with Pat's huge miniature collection. An avid collector, Pat's collection contains saloons, general stores, Southwestern scenes, kitchens, and room boxes of all sizes. She had many shadow boxes and scenes--some from Brooke Tucker classes. There is an extensive collection of furniture, dolls--most of which are handmade, tons of accessories, and so much more.

Pat had a miniature store at one time and a miniature club in Eureka. She had good taste and bought nice collector pieces plus made up some class boxes. Everything is very well done.

At the Show - Figures

This week's blog features a long time dealer who makes marvelous figures and another who creates oil paintings and hand-paints furniture. Sometimes they collaborate on a unique scene guaranteed to catch your attention.

Extremely gifted, Fern Vasi has been creating 1:12 scale porcelain figures for more than thirty years. She enjoys making dolls of all different ages with diverse emotions. Each one-of-a-kind figure tells a story with its expressive face and unique body language. At the Show - Furniture and Paintings

Josephine "Jo" Meyer attended Good Sam for the first time in 2007. She hand paints lovely scenes and landscapes on 1:12 scale furniture. Her oil paintings include originals, reproductions of famous Masters, and whimsical paintings substituting a dog or cat for the human subject. She also paints in 1/2" and 1/4" scale.
